The Tamils have always been a God fearing lot and are great worshippers of Shiva, Vishnu, Parvati and Lakshmi Subramanya. Vinayaka or Pillayar also known as Ganapati or Ganesh is perhaps the most worshipped of the gods.

There are more than 30,000 temples in this sate; which has given Tamil Nadu the title, "Land of Temples". The resemblance of the temples in Tamil Nadu constructed over the years by the different rulers is the gopuram or the imposing tower over the entrance.

The capital of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, is the destination for many who are looking for five-star luxury accomodations.

George and I spent our allotted 2-week vacation in Delhi, Agra and thrashing Northern India (classical India) Rajasthan. We booked it for the only decent time to be there for their "high season" in January (kite festival, camel festival, Ghandi memorial day, etc.). I booked via the Internet almost a year in advance via a truly wonderful site named:www.tsiindia.com which facilitate travel service and made all our excellent bookings, got us all our English-speaking guides and a good driver and car for the entire duration. They prepared everything for us well in advance, it was perfect! The "royal" accommodations, food (vegetarian, not too "hot"), time-table, etc. were all wonderful.

So I will recommend this site for India tours.
